The Truths and Nonsense
My dad always taught me to “Tell It Like It Is”. What does this mean? It means that if you are always honest and state what you believe is the truth, you are better off and will get further in life. I have been buying and selling all kinds of valuables for over 35 years. The jewelry industry is one of the most troublesome regarding transparent pricing. It is difficult for the buyer to compare prices among sellers. Also, many items are purchased as gifts, and therefore, the buyer is not that concerned about the cost or value.
Many people who send us their items are not happy with their value. We apologize. The value depends on a few things. The most important is the desirability of the items and, therefore, the demand. The more buyers there are, the more we can pay. Diamonds and other rings that ladies can stack, engagement rings and rings with trendy settings, three stone diamond rings, anything signed by known designers are all desirable items. On the other hand, dated yellow gold tennis bracelets, cluster rings, miracle top rings, almost all 10kt items, and rings with colored stones are all difficult to sell. Many must be purchased for the value of the gold and the stones. We use diamonds to make other items. One example is Diamond By The Yard pieces, which are quite popular.
The second determination of value is where the item was purchased and what was paid. The markup can vary widely. Many people spend far too much because most jewelry pieces are blind items, meaning the buyer has no idea what the right price is. The buyer sadly trusts the jeweler based on advertising, an attractive store, and the sales pitch.
You can easily research used cars, Pre-Owned handbags, graded collectible coins, sports cards, and more. Jewelry is much more difficult.
We WANT to buy your items. If you do your homework, you will find that our offers are fair and comparable.
Please take the time to read below. We have learned everything from over thirty-five years of buying.
